Colposcopy — coming soon at Sonar Clinic. Newborn home visits are carried out by a paediatrician and neonatologist as part of paediatrics and neonatology.

Prevention: LBC cytology and HPV test

During a gynaecology consultation you can have liquid-based cytology (LBC) and an HPV test (14 high-risk genotypes), also as a single package with an ultrasound. The doctor discusses the result and decides on the next steps. If the smear is abnormal or the HPV test positive, the next step may be a colposcopy. Colposcopy will be available at Sonar Clinic soon; until then, the doctor will advise during the consultation where to have the examination.

What the individual results mean is explained in our guides: Positive HPV test — what next?, Abnormal smear result — what does it mean? and ASC-US and LSIL — what do they mean?.

First visit to a gynaecologist

The first visit, especially for a teenager, is often a conversation and education; an examination is carried out only when it is needed and with the patient’s consent. How to prepare for the visit and what to expect is described in the guide First visit to a gynaecologist.

Current prices of consultations, ultrasound, cytology and tests are listed in the price list.

FAQ

FAQ — Gynaecology and Obstetrics

How often should I have a cytology test?

The frequency is set individually by the doctor, usually every 1–3 years depending on age, method and previous results.

At what age should the first gynaecology visit take place?

The timing is individual. A teenager’s first visit is often a conversation and education — we aim to create a calm, safe atmosphere.

Do you provide pregnancy care?

Yes. Obstetric consultations with ultrasound are provided by a doctor in specialty training in obstetrics and gynaecology; the price list includes packages combining an obstetric consultation with ultrasound, cytology and tests. Newborn home visits are carried out by a paediatrician and neonatologist.

Do you insert intrauterine devices (IUDs)?

Yes — as part of a gynaecology consultation it is possible to insert and remove an intrauterine device.

What should I do after an abnormal smear or a positive HPV test?

Book a gynaecology consultation and bring the result. The doctor will assess whether a follow-up is enough or whether a colposcopy is needed. Colposcopy will be available at Sonar Clinic soon; until then, the doctor will advise during the consultation where to have the examination. An abnormal result does not mean cancer.
